Dan Hernandez

President

Dan Hernandez has been working with computers since 1982 when he worked for West Coast Circuits as a plater. Dan leveraged his interest in computers and his natural abilities to learn everything IT and began working for Grand Central Computers as a consultant, selling computers to small and mid-sized companies around Santa Cruz. Always eager for professional growth and learning opportunities, Dan left Santa Cruz to take a job with Micro Service Center in Fremont. Among his customers were high-profile clients including Wells Fargo and Bain & Company. During one of his service calls at Bain & Company, Dan learned of an opening in their IT department and took it. It was during his tenure at Bain & Company that Dan began thinking about the possibility of starting his own company. As IT Manager for Bain & Co, Dan was providing IT support for the consulting firm’s San Francisco, Los Angeles, and Dallas locations, as well as other West Coast offices. Dan’s exceptional problem-solving abilities became apparent when he fought the first computer virus, the “Jerusalem Virus” also known as the 13/13 Virus.  Dan also built the first Local Area Network (LAN) during his time at Bain & Co. by utilizing a 3 Com system called 3 Plus Share, which was later purchased by Microsoft to become the platform for Windows NT. Dan Hernandez’s experience at Bain & Co,his ability to establish productive relationships with clients, and a growing entrepreneurial spirit led him to begin Professional Computer Support in 1989.
